The line will embark on its very first sailings to Portugal from 2024, on its brand new purpose-built Suite Ship, Avalon Alegria.
Avalon Waterways has announced that it will sail the Douro from 2024 with a new Suite Ship, the Avalon Alegriawhich is built exclusively to navigate the Portuguese river.
The ship’s name means “happiness” in Portuguese and it will feature 14 luxury cabins and 37 panoramic suites on two full decks – accommodating 102 passengers – with open-air balconies and a swimming pool on the Sky Deck.
Avalon Alegria will operate a new eight-day round-trip cruise from Porto from November 2024, with stops at Porto Antigo, Pinhão and Barca d’Alva.
