The US Coast Guard had to escort a cruise ship to shore after a melee broke out among its passengers in international waters.
Officials said the fight, which involved up to 60 people, broke out around 2 a.m. on a Carnival cruise ship bound for New York.
Theresa James, a travel agent who allegedly witnessed the fight, told FOX News the original argument stemmed from allegations of cheating involving a threesome that apparently performed on the ship. James said beer bottles were smashed and people cut as the confrontation dragged on for about an hour.
The cruise ship finally landed in Manhattan as planned after security broke up the fight.
“Last night, as Carnival Magic returned to New York, several guests were involved in an altercation at a nightclub,” Carnival said in a statement. “Fortunately, no serious injuries were reported and our onboard safety team responded. The vessel arrived as scheduled this morning and law enforcement authorities ashore were notified and met with the vessel to interview suspects and witnesses and conduct an investigation.”
It’s unclear if anyone is facing charges.
