Confusion at Lagos LP as 3 chiefs claim ticket to government

There is confusion in the Lagos State section of the Labor Party (LP) as three members claim his gubernatorial ticket.

Moshood Salvador, who defected from the All Progressives Congress (APC), was recently unveiled as the LP’s gubernatorial candidate in a ceremony attended by national officials.

Shortly after, the party appointed an interim committee chaired by Mr. Olukayo Salako, which was unveiled at a press conference on Tuesday.

It was learned that one of the tasks assigned to the committee was to hold a new convention to produce another gubernatorial candidate and other party candidates.

However, another newcomer to the opposition People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Mr. Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, also claimed the party’s governorship ticket.

But our correspondent has learned that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), in its release of personal details of gubernatorial candidates, has listed Mr. Ifagbemi Awamaridi as a candidate for LP Governorship in Lagos.

Awamaridi who spoke to our correspondent yesterday said he remains the gubernatorial candidate and also the party chairman in the state.

He said: ‘There’s no kills or takedowns and if they do anything it’s illegal. A lot of people will go to jail.
