Explora Journeys celebrates the departure of the luxury cruise ship EXPLORA I

Today at the Fincantieri shipyard in Monfalcone, Italy, MSC Group Cruises Division celebrated the launch of EXPLORA I, the first of four luxury cruise ships that will eventually make up the fleet of its new brand of luxury all inclusive, Explora Journeys.

The construction of EXPLORA I began in June 2021 and the vessel is expected to enter service at the end of May 2023. Today’s launch ceremony took place in the presence of the Executive Chairman of the MSC Group’s cruise division, Pierfrancesco Vago; and the president of Fincantieri, Claudio Graziano; and Fincantieri CEO Pierroberto Folgiero, among others.

When launched, EXPLORA I will weigh 63,900 gross tons, consist of 14 decks and include 461 of the largest suites and guest residences at sea, all with balconies or waterfront terraces. She will also offer approximately 27,000 feet of outdoor area, three outdoor pools with 64 cabins and a fourth pool with a retractable glass ceiling.
