Mauritius: A Norwegian tall ship will visit Mauritius in December 2022

The Statsraad Lehmkuhl, a Norwegian tall ship that is circumnavigating the globe with the aim of raising awareness of the state of the world’s oceans, will come to Mauritius on December 02, 2022. As such, the Norwegian Embassy is currently working on a program involving the Prime Minister’s Office for the visit of this tall ship in the harbor of Port Louis.

The new Ambassador of the Kingdom of Norway, Mr. Haakon Einang Gram-Johannessen, made the statement this afternoon following a courtesy call he paid to the Prime Minister, Mr. Pravind Kumar Jugnauth, at the New Treasury Building in Port Louis.

Ambassador Gram-Johannessen underlined that this was his first visit to Mauritius and expressed his satisfaction at being appointed Ambassador of the Kingdom of Norway to our country. He pointed out that discussions with Prime Minister Jugnauth have focused on a number of issues relating to joint ventures between the two countries in recent years, as well as future plans that Mauritius and Norway commonly share.

In addition, the Norwegian Ambassador stressed that Mauritius and Norway have excellent bilateral relations, adding that it is the ocean that binds the two countries despite their geographical distance. The two countries frequently find common ground on various issues relating to maritime security and sustainable ocean management, among others, he added.
