Pakistan has no space to park magnificent 14-story Italian cruise ship: owner

  • The new owner of an Italian cruise ship laments the lack of space to park a beautiful ship in the country’s largest port.
  • He first bought a ship to sell it to the junk after dismantling it in Gaddani.
  • However, seeing it in perfect condition, he thought of transforming it into a hotel to offer recreation to visitors.

A magnificent 14-story cruise ship will now be sold at the junk as there is not enough space to park the beautiful and comfortable cruise in the country’s largest port in Karachi, Geographic news reported Sunday.

New Choice Enterprises’ new cruise owner Ahmadullah Khan said he had made efforts to ensure the ship offered recreation as he planned to turn it into a hotel or cruise to promote tourism.

Originally he bought the ship for dismantling in Pakistan, but when he saw the ship in perfect condition, he changed his mind and thought of turning it into a tourist attraction.

However, he said, he contacted the Pakistan National Shipping Corporation (PNSC) and other authorities, but no place could be assigned for the cruise ship in the country’s largest port.

So the ship, Celestial experience, formerly known as Costa Romantic, was taken to the Gadani demolition site to be dismantled.

Speaking to local media, Ahmadullah Khan said the chairman of the Karachi Port Trust (KPT) assured him of his cooperation. However, he later learned that the ship could not be parked at the post due to lack of space.
