This morning I received a request from a family member of one of the passengers on the Oceania Nautical see information about what is happening on this cruise ship.
The ship was apparently ‘turning’ for hours last night and I was informed that duct tape was then placed on one of the ship’s decks. Turkish police were apparently on the ship now, according to one of the passengers.
Man overboard? Does anyone have any information on what is currently happening on board Oceania’s Nautica? #Cruise the ship was previously “circling” for hours (an apparent search and rescue?) and the tape is now on one of the decks. Turkish police aboard the ship now. . . (for one of the passengers). pic.twitter.com/kvGcEB0gDz

The boats itinerary says the Nautica left Barcelona, Spain on August 15 and sailed to Spain, France, Monte Carlo, Malta, Italy and Greece before arriving in Turkey around noon today.
Images by crusemapper.com of the ship’s AIS indicate that the Nautica carried out what appears to be a search and rescue last night while approaching Turkey. One person commenting on Facebook said:
“A person went overboard on our ship… Oceania Nautical. Off Turkey. We’ve been stopped and looking since last night…..just shocked.
The cruise line, as usual, has not released a public statement regarding what happened. There is no public information on whether the missing person was a guest or a crew member. We anticipate receiving additional information from passengers or the ship’s crew.
