Ship fire: large-scale exercise helps firefighters prepare | New

Several area fire departments have completed the first full-scale fire drill on a ship in Newport Bay.

The exercise, conducted Saturday August 13, was the first since the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) moved its Marine Operations Center Pacific to Newport in 2011.

Fire agency platforms are positioned alongside the quayside during the ship’s fire drill.
