For decades, Star Wars fans have “shipped” their favorite characters. There were definitely a lot of hopes for Luke/Leia before Return of the Jedi dropped the bombshell that the two were actually twins.
This practice has not fundamentally changed. But social media has made maritime culture much more widespread. When the force awakens came out in 2015, fans immediately latched onto the possibility of Finn and Poe having a romantic relationship. The chemistry between them was present throughout the sequel trilogy. Their relationship may not have worked out in the movies. Corn LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga maybe just made canon.
This week, Kotaku pointed out that when you start the game, watch the intro, and are greeted by the Star Wars cast in LEGO form, Finn ditches Rose to go stand arm-in-arm with her boyfriend. StormPilot is real, and no one can take that away from us. Rejoice!
But that’s not all! Poe continues to wrap his arms around Finn’s shoulders. and protect him from the ever menacing Captain Phasmabecause that’s what true lovers do.
OK OK. You might be quick to say that all the animations or jokes of a Lego Star Wars the game is technically “canon”. I guess you are technically right. Corn The Skywalker Saga don’t make this stuff up just for fun. They’re just confirming what fans already knew. It may not have ended up in the movies, but in our hearts – and in what stacks up to be one of the greatest Star Wars video games in a while – it’s real. And here to stay.
LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga is available now on your favorite gaming platforms, including but not limited to PC, Xbox One and Series S/X, Playstation 4/5, and more.
